What is the web design process?

After the initial contact, we will arrange a meeting/call to discuss your requirements and put together a proposal and quotation. Once the project gets underway we will gather a deeper understanding of your business, your customers and your competition to start building a website that is search engine optimised (SEO) or simply concentrate on the web design, if all you need is a small, simple website. We will create key areas of your website until a series of final page layouts is produced. In the next stage, we will focus on content. Decisions about text quantity and wording as well as surrounding images will be made.

Once design and content are finalised, we connect your website to your domain or set up a new domain for you. We will also register your website with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google My Business. We will set up and integrate your social media channels and set your email up on Google Workplace, if required. We always make sure that the launch phase is swift and any downtime avoided. After the launch we take care of ongoing website management, SEO and your social media.

How long does it take to design a website?

Designing a website can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks or even months, depending on various factors. For a simple website with basic functionality—such as a landing page or a small business site with only a few pages—it might take around 1 to 2 weeks. This includes initial consultations, design drafts, revisions, and basic content uploads.

For more complex websites, requiring custom integrations and features (like booking systems, advanced forms, or third-party software), the timeline can extend to several weeks or even months. Larger sites require more time for planning, development, and testing, especially when there are unique design requirements, interactive elements, or heavy content.

Factors like client feedback, revisions, content delays, or the need for additional features can also significantly impact the timeline. A well-organised project with clear communication and timely feedback can speed up the process, while unplanned changes or late content submissions can extend it. Additionally, ongoing collaboration between the designer and the client is crucial to ensure the project stays on track for a timely launch.

What is SEO?

SEO, or Search Engine Optimisation, is the process of enhancing a website to improve its visibility on search engines like Google. The goal is to make the website more discoverable by potential customers who are searching for relevant products or services. This involves optimising both the structure and content of the site to ensure it's not only attractive and easy to navigate for users but also aligns with search engine algorithms. The better a site is optimised, the more likely it is to appear higher in search engine results, leading to increased traffic.

One of the key aspects of SEO is keyword research. This means identifying the specific words and phrases people use when searching online and incorporating them strategically throughout the site. Keywords play a crucial role in helping search engines understand what the website is about and matching it with user queries. Along with this, SEO includes optimising titles, meta descriptions, and alt tags for images—elements that also help search engines categorize and rank the content.

Building backlinks, which are links to your site from other reputable websites, is another important aspect of SEO. Backlinks act as votes of confidence for your website, signalling to search engines that your content is valuable and trustworthy.

For local businesses, SEO goes beyond website content and extends to optimising the business’s map pack, which features in Google’s local business listings and map. This is essential for businesses that rely on local customers, as it helps them appear prominently when people search for nearby services.

The higher a website ranks in search engine results, the more visibility it gains, leading to increased traffic and, ultimately, more customers.

Why is SEO important?

SEO is crucial because it ensures your business can be found by potential clients on search engines like Google. Higher rankings not only increase visibility but also build trust and provide a consistent source of leads. Without SEO, even the best-looking website can go unnoticed if it doesn't appear in search results.

Imagine launching a beautiful new website, but when you search for it on Google, it’s nowhere to be found. This happens when a website hasn’t been optimised—there are no title tags, meta descriptions, or relevant keywords. SEO makes your site visible to the right audience.

While SEO takes time and effort, usually showing noticeable results within 4-6 months, the benefits are well worth it. Optimising a site, creating valuable content, and building links take time, but once your website ranks well, you’ll get relevant organic traffic and leads that last without constant spending. If Google Ads are a fast but costly approach, SEO is a marathon that delivers long-term, sustainable results.
